riven slab

hi guys i have a 33sqm garden with riven slabs, my lad plays basketball alot and always moans about how hard it is to try and bounce the ball on riven slabs without the ball randomly just bouncing off in different directions. Now my question is, is it possible to sand the riven on the slabs so we can have smooth even slabs? If not is there any other ideas?

Grinding the nibs off riven flags would quickly send you to an institution I’m afraid......make do or renew, unfortunately.
