We are looking to get our downstairs (about 4 rooms) skimmed. Seeing as multifinish is so hard to get and prices on ebay about £20 a bag, is plastering really expensive at the moment?

We paid around £350 a room in the past

I would wait until the Muppets who think it's a cracking idea to bulk buy it then flog it on eBay at an inflated cost give up this get rich quick scheme and move onto something else

I've had to resort to diy, bought x knuaf proroll from wickes at £25 a pop, more time consuming, less messy but no plasterer cost.

My plasterer was saying that he could make more money selling his plaster than actually coming out and doing the jobs.

Had a plaster job done 2 weeks ago he said it’s back to normal now and charged me a similar price to what he charged me last year.

Thanks I'll get a few quotes in and see whats what. I think it also depends where you live, I can't get any plaster from the normal places in Birmingham (wickes, selco etc) Hoping plasterers have their own secret supply

Many Wickes stores had a delivery of between 200 & 500 bags of Multifinish today, I know it won't last long so check your local store and get some in the morning! Send your mum/auntie/nan too because they are only allowing either 5 or 10 bags per customer, per store!

Or on the other hand, he actually has loads of work - is called upon multiple times a day to go to other places to plaster them and was referring to the prices he had seen online for plaster.

See'ms your the one talking $h!t benny.. :)

most i’ve seen it for is about £30 a bag.
any plasterer who cant turn a bag of plaster in to more than £30 needs to get a job in tesco.
