Have a BG smart meter and switched to Octopus. Have been using the Smart remote unit to get meter readings for Octopus since switching a few months ago.

Now getting a message on the remote unit that says 'connecting to smart meter' but it doesn't connect.

Have tried to power down several times, still the same.

The WAN led on the main unit is flashing amber, the HAN led is flashing green.

Any ideas on how to get the remote unit working again.

Thanks

This is the whole problem of gen 1 smart meters !

The smaller company’s weren’t involved with the early development.

Look on the ocpus website under FAQ.

It used to say no chance of it working !

I did see the FAQ in Octopus and understand it won't work as a smart meter.

However the remote unit was working as a dumb unit and I have got meter readings since switching.

I don't get why it won't now work as a dumb remote unit.

the dumb unit is far easier than getting reading from the main units.

Call Octopus Customer Services. They can check if the IHD (remote display) is still on the HAN (local meter network) and re pair it if not.

There is very little you can do yourself.
