New one to me to be honest, there are independents but mostly do new build sites as it is worth their while but to do one offs isnt

I've looked at Intergas...they seem to be petty good and I have some respect for Dutch manufacturers.....so right now it is between Intergas and Navien for a wall-mounted gas boiler. Thanks for all the advice so far

I'd have a look at the back up available before deciding, Intergas have their own team I believe, not sure about Navien, although the regular forum troll was shouting their name above everyone else trying to talk a while back which rather put me off.
Going back to your oil leak and given your location, I rather suspect it may have been the result of an oil thief rather tan a tank failure. Heating oil is very similar to diesel fuel, and most older diesel engines will burn it without an issue. These people dont care, and once they've filled their containers, (or are disturbed) they will happily let the excess pour on the floor without a thought to the environmental consequences.

You could be right...but it was hard to get conclusive evidence. In the end, given our own risk and the fact that a claim would cause our policies to cost more we never even claimed for the damage. I wish I was in the insurance business...but too late now

Wont have that issue with Gas, unless the B'stards try and pinch the copper off the side of your house!
FWIW, 28 second oil doesn't have the lubrication qualities of diesel so the injection pump and injectors are likely to suffer if the former is used.
Doesn't stops them nicking it though, I think usual practice is to mix it with diesel before use. Newer Diesel engines wont like it but I know at least one who is running a older Land Rover on veg oil. Caught me out first couple of times when he drove past, though 'Hmmm, chip shop smells nice.' Then I realised actually I wasn't within half a mile of a chippy, and twigged.
I know a heating engineer who has a merc sprinter and uses nothing but heating oil has done for over 20 years
I know of a Ford Escort diesel that ran quite happily on kerosene for quite some time. Didn't seem to do it any harm, got a tank of diesel in time for the MoT and sailed through
IIRC there was a town in Wales, in around 2003, when the locals started running their diesel cars on cooking oil. The local Supermarkets had the shelves emptied of oil, and Police were going round sniffing exhausts, earning them the nickname of 'The Frying Squad'.

As I type, Cadent are installing a gas pipe to the house... 25-metre run, over three levels. They reckon three men for four days...and its fixed prices of around £1700. It does look like good value to me.
The next step is to flog our newly-installed oil tank. It is an 1100 litre model, single skinned, and about 5 months old. Any ideas of how to sell it and what it might be worth....this is a whole new area for me.

I should coco ,Western power charged me £900 to move a cable 7m, it was done by 2 men in less than an hour
