Does a sanded down door need priming?

I've sanded down an internal door and in a few places it's gone down to the bare wood. Do I need to prime these patches of bare wood before painting the door or can I just put on two or three coats of the water-based Dulux QuickDry Satinwood pure brilliant white which I'm using, and which the tin says is self-undercoating?

If I do need to prime the bare wood bits is it better to use a water-based primer or a solvent-based one?

Prime the patches, give that a very light sand, then prime the whole door if you have broken through in several places less chance of it showing through then.
Water based is fine.

Thanks for your advice. I already have a tin of solvent-based primer. I assume this will be ok to use(?)
