Hi
There’s an old warm air heating system in my house which is soon to be replaced . On investigating the routing of the air ducts I noticed this ..looks like the lagging has seriously failed . I think il have to get it tested before touching it or even looking at it again . ....Thoughts ?
Thanks in advance

rockhopper69, good evening.

YES get it tested.

I have seen several such systems from Carlisle to various areas in south central Scotland where in Ex-Council properties the lagging proved to test positive for [generally] White Asbestos.

Ken.

And the heater itself may contain asbestos depending on its age and the cupboard it’s in may be lined with asbestos board as fire proofing

Well Ive taken a sample for testing it actually looks very similar to rockwool or fibre glasss I ’m just hoping the experts confirm it .
