What do you need a 9” grinder for?

Killed my 5” grinder today cutting sandstone slabs. Slightly tempted to replace it with one of those twin pack deals with a 4.5 and 9” grinder, but what do people really need 9” for day to day? Obv it can’t cut out a skin of brickwork like a Stihl saw... paving maybe? Guess I’m just trying to justify getting a new toy

I only really use it for cutting steel, and when the discs are half worn they go on a smaller grinder!

Cutting any stone/concrete I'd rather do it wet with the petrol saw.

I can't remember the last time I used my 9" grinder since I bought the new bosch 6" cordless with the new core pro batteries.

I don't feel safe using a 9"grinder,much prefer a petrol cut off saw,or small grinder,must have been offered about 10 9"grinders free over the years(always declined)so don't think i'm alone in disliking.
Bought a Makita cordless grinder,and wonder how i ever managed without one, so versatile.

Have you ever tried a 9" grinder with soft start? That's a good feature.

I use my 9" to cut paving stones.
Smaller grinders are not really up to the job.
If I did a lot of paving I would invest in a petrol wet stone cutter like the ones used by road makers.

Metal workers in fabrication shops use little else but 9" grinders.
With a big thick grinding disc attached.

Our steel guys use them (9in grinders) when they need to cut and shut steel framework, but dressing joints, etc is generally done with 4-1/2in or 5in models

No i haven't, i don't cut metal really, seems most use a 9" grinder for cutting metal,best cutting tools iv'e used are 9" cordless Hilti and Stihl cut off saws but alas too expensive.

Forget 9" angle grinders. Get one of these https://www.screwfix.com/p/evolution-disc305c-305mm-electric-stone-cutter-230v/31666 One of the best tools I ever got - pretty much as good as a petrol but instantly available. Slashes through slabs and bricks with ease.

I do like the look of that. Mega dusty tho if you can’t water feed it?

I have an industrial vac that attaches to a vac port on it and reduces dust to not much at all.
