Hi all, hope you are doing well.

I live in a block of flats and I am trying to replace a BTICINO handset.( I am replacing it with an identical one - same make and model, no changes whatsoever)
I took a photo of the wiring before removing the old handset but unfortunately it was deleted by accident and I can't remember how to wire it properly. The only thing I remember is that the blue&white blue were probably connected on the left (see pic nr.3) but I am not sure.

The handset has only audio and door lock function, no video. I am mostly interested in getting the door lock to work, don't care about the audio too much.

Can you please help? I can upload more pictures if necessary

Quickest thing to do is knock on a neighbours neighbours door and have a mooch at there's

Failing that see what wires go where in the panel by the front door

Blue and white would be my guess as the others are twisted together indicating they are not used , you have a 50/50 chance of getting the wires the right way around, they do go into the green connector block

Thanks for your reply. Blue and white blue went into the same socket (if that is the right word)
Here is a pic to show what I mean intercom4.JPG

If you can find the type / model number then this site may have the necessary information,

Hi and thanks for your reply. I had already found this link (https://doorentrydirect.com/media/product_attach_files/u/0/u0785a.pdf) but the problem is that it has instructions only for the 5 cable version, not the 2 wire one.

what makes you think you have the correct handset, they may look the same but are not. They do different technologies and the handets would look identical to look at just different inside. Why have you got all those cables if you only have a two wire system with two terminals and no pollarity if i recall. Very clever system controlled electronically using the little configurators which will be in the distribution blocks so you should not need to be concerened with that either.
The two wire systems litterally runs using two wires positve and negative so would many you have many unused cables. Why are they all stripped back if only two wire system unless it has been retrofitted from the 8 wire system, but if so they should have cut the cables back to make it clear as they will not be in use, just spare.

So basically if its the two wire system installed you will require the two cables in use and connect one to each terminal.

Knocking on your neighbours needs to be done , you will instantly know what wires to use

I have both handsets, old and new and they are identical, both inside and outside.
All cables are stripped because a friend thought that he could fix it, but unfortunately he could not. :(

Is there a way to tell which wire is positive and which one is negative?

You could try this e-mail [email protected] as Legrand appear to be the main UK representatives / tech support for bticino in the UK

Quote the numbers on the label ( CT23/19 13W39 ) which are probably the software identity for the unit.

You need to knock on your neighbours door as sicerebus666 said.
Each company will have their own wiring colour configuration.
You will not resolve wiring problem with out doing this first.
Just ask to take cover off neighbours handset and take photo

Unfortunately receiving help form the neighbours is not an option, it was the first thing I thought of too (even suggested not taking a picture myself, but they could do it and send me the picture - no luck)

Can someone please explain the difference between the cable with the solid colour and the white striped one? (eg blue- white blue)

Thanks

You are NOT going to solve this without going into another flat or having access to the control panel power supply unit. This could be understair or in a communal area.
Asking questions about colour config will not help.
Specific colour combination for each terminal on pcb of handset.

catherine as long as you have the two wires that are connected to the digital system then it does not matter which one you connect to which terminal on a two wire system. That is what made this system easy to install. Identify the two in use and connect one to each terminal. Clip the others back to save confusion but do not cut them off as its always handy to have spares. I take it you are in a block if you are able to track back you will see a blue connector which will show you the two cables connected, just use those and keep the others as spares. As long as no one has changed anything else in the system you shouldnt have no problem.

Do not worry about the two from any of your neigbours as who ever installed may not have used the same pairs. All you need to worry about is the two from your handset that are connected to the system (Bus) the rest is done with a configerator which will be something resembling a green coloured car fuse with a number on it. If any has been removed it need to go back in the correct number in position. If you do not have the correct configurator in it will not recognise you on the system.
You can see you are flat 5 on the system as you green configerator has the number 5. You must make sure that is in the replaced handset.
