Replacing wooden lintel below ceiling

Hi there,

I started ripping wallpaper off the walls in the bathroom and noticed some cracks above/around the window, after exposing the timber lintel above its got woodworm/beetle holes so I guess it'll have to go? I guess this can't be treated?

Directly above this there will be roof rafters, I'm wondering if I will need acro props to support the rafters when I take the bricks out to replace the lintel?
Also would steel or concrete would be the best thing to put in its place? The house is 1880s mid terrace if that's any use?

That timber looks fine you have a total of four exit holes I can see, hardly an issue

You will get cracking around windows due to expansion, contraction of the uPVC and windows being slammed

Screwfix do a woodworm treatment , I would use it and then get on with your decorating

Prod it with a screwdriver, see how solid it feels. Given the 4 holes & the look of the timber it'll likely be fine, as above dose it heavily with the woodworm killer & move on. If you find any soft bits with the screwdriver then start to worry
