My Edwardian Home Renovation

Wanted to take you on my journey so far of 0 DIY experience to where I'm at today. I've made lots of mistakes and have learned a great deal along the way!

Front Lounge
Fail - was lifting the glued and nailed in floor tiles that lay beneath the carpet.
Win - I managed to source a cast iron fire surround from a house just down the road.










Lounge
Fail - is that I'm going to have to rip out the door frame to install a fire door (Wish i'd have done this before putting it all back together!)
Win - Love the wood burner. Was a great tool to get rid of all of the upstairs ceiling joists whilst keeping warm over the winter!




Front Bedroom
Fail - After finding out that I couldn't replace my boiler in its existing location due to insufficient sized gas pipes (upgrading to a combi) I had to rip the wall apart to run the gas pipe through this room after finishing redecorating.
Win - I applied insulated plasterboard to the outside wall, it was nice and warm throughout the winter!

Front Bedroom Continued

Rear Bedroom
Fail - I had to completely re-do the cement board in the ensuite after realising the wall was really wonky, which would have made installing the ensuite shower impossible!
Win - Managed to squeeze in a tiny ensuite into the room which has been a godsend. Our only other bathroom is in the doorstairs extension which is a long walk in the middle of the night for a wee!
