You're right. What I would do is connect the soundbar direct to the TV with a cable and see where you are getting audio from. Whatever is producing audio output should then connect to the bluetooth transmitter (if there is a switch make sure it is on Tx) and should pair with the soundbar. Good luck, I think that's about all I can offer!

You plug the dongle into the USB so it has power, you can do this and sync it from any USB socket.
To sync it you usually do it within x number of seconds of powering it up or hold down the button on it - both while your other device is in sync mode.
The jack lead goes into your headphone output.

I appreciate the reply. However, there is no button on the dongle. I will look into the advice you've suggested though, simply because, as always with new technology, we learn something new everyday, and there may well be some of what you are saying that becomes useful once I give it all a try. Thanks everyone.
