Kingspan septic tank not working

Thats what I thought TBH. The new cap that was sent with the motor will only fit it the separate housing due to it being bigger than the original. I will try the install with the original cap to see if that is still in check.

I'll report back. Thanks for the help.

There may lie part, (if not all) of your issue, has the motor been wired incorrectly in the first place? Kingspan are showing 3 cores and earth to motor, you've only got 2.

Mains supply, seems they had some 4 core (is that armoured?) available so that was used, (armour should be earthed too I think at either end, cant tell if that has been?), so I really think it might be wise to get a Professional Electrician to look it over before you blow another motor or fry someone.

Hi Hugh and thanks for the message. I've been away for a few days for my birthday.Hi Hugh and thanks for the message. I've been away for a few days for my birthday. I'll take a look at the number of wires coming in via the armourd cable and report back. I did get the discs spinning again via the new motor and replacement cap installed within the motor so as it stands it is working!

Hope you had, I say I hope you had a good birthday;) Discs are spinning(y) as my old guv'nor used to say F****** rotate

That is good news!

I am just concerned why the last motor failed so prematurely, and dont want this one doing the same thing, (as I'm sure you dont!) Personally would run the wiring past the Electricians on their page, just see what they think. I'm not a Sparks so cant comment, but that capacitor is there for a reason, and it doesn't look to me like its wired up as Klargester suggest it should be.

A single phase ac supply creates a pulsating magnetic field. A motor requires a rotating magnetic field.
The motor has 2 windings Start and run. Inserting a capacitor in the start winding gives a 90° phase difference between the currents in the 2 windings creating rotation.

I'll stick to emptying them I think.

Hi Terry and thanks for this however it means very little to me unfortunately. Could you please explain in laymans terms? Is this good / bad / normal?

Just fit the capacitor in start winding.
It matters not which JB if wiring is there.
Your photo clearly shows cap in series with black wires so no ambiguity.

Thanks Terry thats good to hear!

I'm just off the phone to kingspan and they say that it will probably require new bearings as they are only made from nylon. If these have failed they will put extra strain on the motor.

Does the motor have any thermal protection? Might be worth fitting something?

Not sure tbh, it’s a pretty simple setup from what I can tell.

Hi Devs
Sorry to drag up old post, but googling this control panel and up popped this thread.
Would you mind sharing what the display looks like when running all correctly? we had powercut a week ago and I noticed no display or warning light (warning light normally works).
I pressed reset in control panel and I now have a display back on but not sure if correct and can’t remember what it used to be to know if ok.
Mines just showing 00, but sure before it showed alternating dots flashing only?
Many thanks

Hey mate mines never works so can’t help unfortunately. Hope you get sorted.
