MDPE plasson fittings reusing

Hi

Say I have a plasson mdpe fitting and need to remove it temporarily..

If I undo the locknut and remove (lift carefully) the grab ring off the pipe and then the fitting can I refit the same fitting in the same position later?

Obviously I’d have to refit the grab ring in the same place on the pipe...

You might have trouble with that without scraping/damaging the pipe. The grab ring is obviously designed to bite into the pipe and stop it being pulled off (to the left) unless you can pull it off the length of the pipe (to the right).

The grab ring has a gap in it which you can open easily if you have enough room to slide the nut all the way off it.
