Pipe run from boiler to loft

Hi,

I'm having a (Worcester Compact) boiler installed and while the engineer suggested running the pipework down and behind the various kitchen cabinets, I wondered if it's possible to run them up into the loft area instead.

The boiler will be mounted in a kitchen cabinet and the kitchen designer insists that a washing machine could be integrated below the boiler and a worktop would still be able to cover it but I'm sceptical, believing that a full-size cabinet would be necessary. Is this problem solved by a suitable manifold? Is it really OK to have a washing machine or dishwasher under a boiler anyway?

No reason why a washing machine can't be installed under a worktop ,with a boiler above it .
Why do you want to consider taking Pipework up into a loft ?

Thanks for your reply and that's sounds promising - I just need to decide how to route the pipes down behind the washing machne then i.e. using a pipe cover and increasing the depth of the base units to accommodate the washing machine being positioned further away from the wall - this may increase the cost of the worktop though.

I need to add a radiator to an extension which has a concrete floor - I'm looking at how easy it is to chase a channel for it and running it via the loft is the fall-back plan.

Yes, if you were to take the pipes down behind the WM then you'll probably need more space than you get normally get at the back of a standard WM with a standard worktop (600 odd mm), if you want the WM to sit flush with the worktop/cabinets. Even more if it's integrated.

A deeper worktop would be needed and the cabinets brought forward. That would allow the pipes/filter to be boxed in (to avoid damage) and then the WM to be put into the same space and still end up flush to the front edge of the cabinets & worktop.

Unless you get a shallow WM but they tend to be lower in load capacity.
