Replacing CPU but blank screen

Hi, upgrading my PC CPU to an i5-3470s that the manufacturer says will work with the mobo http://global.shuttle.com/products/productsSupportList?productId=1555
Followed all YouTube advice about how to seat the CPU, correct pressure on the clip, and adding a line of thermal paste.
Boot machine back up and whilst fans spin up on both cooler and GPU, plus DVD wakes up, nothing on screen.
Tried removing GPU, and upgrading BIOS.
Reinsert old i3-2100 CPU and get same result.
Argh!
Appreciate any further tips please

Do you have a hard drive? If so does it spin up? Can you hear it spin up?

Does the pc pc boot into the bios ok? I assume so as youve managed to update the bios, if this is the case then I would suspect the hard drive.

Are all connections seated correctly and are they all connected in the right place?
 
Hey, yes there is a SSD little difficult to hear it spin up. I'd checked that the SATA cables are pushed firm.
Bios was updated before all this, to suit the new GPU.
The only point I struggled with was pushing home the cooler posts, as the first time I did this I presumed they'd need to be in the twisted position, not the original. Anyway, currently I can practically pick up the mobo with the cooler, it's so tight.
I reseated the RAM last night too
 
In your PC you have a set of 4 LEDs that will go either red or green. Check the sequence and look into the MB manual for any indicator of POST failure.
Are you using a new graphics card? Is that seated correctly? Is the GPU addressed properly by the BIOS, i.e. correct sequence?

Hmmm wasnt aware of the four LEDs will check later on.

The GTX 1650 GPU was working fine with the old processor, but I saw the CPU bottlenecking, hence the upgrade.

I tried both processors with GPU removed and fell back to DVI-D.

The machine stays on for 30 secs or so, then powers off by itself and reboots. Second time it stays on and I need to hold power button to power it off
 
Check the POST LEDs.
Retrace your steps of fitting the "new" CPU. Make sure all the wires that should be plugged in are plugged in.
Take out your RAM sticks and only leave one in to eliminate failed parts. Do the same with all add on cards.
Check and maybe reset your BIOS to default.
Some BIOSes allow / need you to set the order of graphics cards.
 
Ok, emptying the second RAM bank allows machine boot, I see the expected processor on BIOS screen and machine boots to windows :)
I placed the removed stick in bank one, and it still works.
Machine no longer likes bank two being filled.
Havent yet tried new processor with second RAM bank empty.
 
If you can boot into your system you can run some system checks with freeware software.
If you have a bent pin in the RAM slot you could fix this but only if the board is completely discharged. Otherwise you will potentially short lots.
If the RAM was badly seated try again.
 
No matter what I try, I cant get machine to boot with second RAM bank used.

Couldn't help thinking there might be damage to LGA socket. My eyesight struggles.

Knackered power supply? Is it a branded power supply or a cheapie, and have you put in a significantly higher power CPU and graphic card?

Hi, no apparently the processors both run at 75w max, the i5 being newer and labelled "low power". Thanks
 
If the computer works with 1 ram slot, just buy a bigger ram stick and slap that in
