I couldn't get a screw in from the tight angle so I did it from the front. Is this the only way?

Have you considered an angle driver attachment for your drill or even just a stubby screwdriver?

Went in from front at an angle in end. This is what it looks like.

Noticed it's pressing upwards against the pipe join too when all screwed together. Will it damage pipe?
This is the frame I built too

Could you not have put the side panel onto the frame before fixing the frame itself in place?

Good point. Did try to attach one baton to the wall though which is easier without frame

In future:-

Boxing is not structural. Make it up on the bench with glue and hidden internal fixings if required. Hold it in place with a couple of small dabs of grab adhesive. It won't move but is easy to remove if you need to. Sometimes you don't even have to secure - some of my boiler boxing just pushes on to a couple of dowels.

The baton wasn't touching the boxing directly, maybe 5mm away. Is this ok?

Wouldn't adhesive like gripfill take a day to go off though?

I would have made it all the same depth without any gaps between to collect grime, that will be impossible to clean .
