Hi all,
First post! Firstly thanks for all the advice people have previously posted on here, it has been incredibly helpful in the past!
I have just installed my first Texecom Elite 24. All appears to be working fine, however I am having an issue when installing internal extension speakers!

I have 4 of these Kinetic 16 Ohm Mylarcone Extension Speakers (https://www.alertelectrical.com/kin...AuqXmlbQIlzXegIZ06nomIjuv49yofqxoC6isQAvD_BwE)

The idea of having them is to act mainly as a nuisance to any possible intruder, so ideally, I would like them to activate when the alarm activates.

These speakers only have 2 wires - a black and red.

I initially wired the speaker red wire to the PCB External sounder connection 12V+ and the black wire to the PCB SPK (loudspeaker Connection). The internal speaker for the PCB is already wired at these connections.

When I added one or two of the Extension Speakers to these connection points - the issue I have is that after about 10 seconds the volume of the speakers goes right down as though they are fading. If I remove the internal speaker wire, and only use one Extension speaker, it works fine. If i remove the internal speaker wire and use two extension speakers, I get the same fading issue!

I found a hack which is as follows (basically created a loop):
Red wire from PCB 12V+ to speaker 1 +ve
Wire from Speaker 1 -ve to Speaker 2 +ve
Black wire from Speaker 2 to PCB SPK
When I do this it works fine, but I didn't set up my wiring to allow for this to occur easily!

I tried to assign Panel Output 1 to "Alarm" via wintex, but this did resulted in no sound at all.

So my questions are:
Have i done something wrong with my initial wiring?
Is it possible to add more than one extension speaker?
Is the hack the "proper" way to do it?

Many many thanks!!

According to the instruction manual (did you read it?) You can connect either one 16ohm speaker or two 8 ohm speakers wired in the way you call a hack

You may have damaged the speaker output ?
Too many 16 ohm speakers connected at once.
What you should have done was connect one speaker to panel outputs and programmed accordingly.

Thanks, I just looked again, and must have glazed over this section!!

Hopefully not damaged, as it is still working fine with one speaker connected.
I'm not 100% sure how to program the panel outputs, although I have tried this on wintex.
Output Options>Control Panel>Panel Outputs>1:Never active (I only have 1 option here)
I changed this in the following ways:
GROUP TYPE: from NONE to AREA
AREAS: from empty to A (all the zones are linked to Area A)
OUTPUT FUNCTION: 00 Alarm.

I wired the BLACK wire to OP1
However on doing this there was no sound from the speaker when the alarm was active.

Could I have programmed something wrong?

I'd be surprised if you would get a speaker to work adequately if at all from an output.

even the speaker mimic option wouldn't work.

so its an 8XP expander, or a keypad with a speaker.

I had a couple of twin piezo sound bombs fitted as extras, due to sound blocking by internal fire doors.

I believe they come on the same circuit as the external siren.

I remember the power consumption is very low.

sound bombs wont follow the speaker though, but can an output can be fired to trigger them, think the 2 piezo is less than 100mA and 4 piezos is greater than 100mA off top of my head

Thanks for this, I also have a quad piezo sound bomb, so I could try and play around with that. Do you recall how they were wired?

Thank you, do you know how I would wire/program this? I have a 4 Piezo which I could play around with.

Thanks, I can seem to find the speaker mimic option. Do you know where this might be?
I added an external speaker to the texecom keypad, and the volume was incredibly low (even with it adjusted to:cool:

No, it was done by the installer. I think he said he added (at least one of them) to the wire for the external sounder.

Interestingly the Piezo Sound Bomb works when I attach it to the same output as the external siren.
