An atheist

Gravity as we would understand it only exists due to the earths mass.,
The tides are due to the moon's mass, not the earth.

Gravity only exists to where your are in time and space.
No it doesn't. Gravity is a measurable by product of bent space/time. We can see its effects exhibited as gravitational lensing , where we can see "behind" things, such as behind stars.

The bent space also changes the relative speed of time (so time spent in different gravitational fields passes a different speeds). This happens with the clocks in GPS satellites- they run faster than the same clocks on the planet as there's a weaker gravitational force / faster time, compared to grpund level. It's minisucle, but, enough to require correction or it cocks up the GPS calculations.

Before the big ban
I dont follow?

Gravity is reality on earth, once you leave earth it does not exist.
No, it's still there.

Yes, but only on earth.
Sorry i have not made myself clear,
Gravity exists relative to mass.
The moon has less mass so therefore less gravity.

I don't know what you are getting at; do you think there is no gravity on the Moon, Jupiter, the Sun, a black hole?

As fun as this has been, I don't think I can explain general relativity in simpler terms than I already have.
To recap:

Gravity is not just on earth.
Planets orbit the sun due to gravity.
Blacks holes generate such an amount of gravity they eat matter.
Gravity is there, whether or not we are here to experience it.
If an item has mass, it generates a gravitational field.
And:
Gravity is something, not nothing.

Happy to carry on tomorrow ...

That made me laugh out loud.

Even when you're in orbit you're subject to gravity. The astronauts aren't floating inside their spaceships, they're falling as gravity tires to drag them down and make them go splat.

I wrote that before you edited your one line post.

So, there is gravity in lots of places and its effect will be felt for huge distances.
And just to confuse Vinty more, energy (like light) also generates gravity. Despite it having no mass, if has energy-mass which is what generates gravity.

If you fire enough light into a single spot at the right time you can form a Kugelblitz and make a black hole from light.

Yes, Gravity is only something that exists if you live on eath or some planet other than earh.
Correct. I think vinty must be pizzed.
Correct.
