Retaining wall - wrong blocks?

An easy way is to sink 4ft concrete fence posts in by at least 2 foot and use the concrete gravel boards. For extra strength cut the boards to 3ft lengths with some pea single behind them to help with drainage so the wet soil no constantly against the boards. If you already bought the thermalite blocks you can make a small wall in front of the boards and render it with some capping on top.
Thanks - I've decided to use concrete blocks, the thermalite can be saved for something else!

Mark you can get outdoor mosaic tiles on a mesh backing but expensive. I did a two coat sand and cement render on my flower beds and garden wall and it was quite easy for a non builder.

Cheers. All painted now and looks really good. 5 and 1 for the base coat then a 6/1 for the top coat. When nearly dry i finished the surface with a damp sponge. Didn't go for a full flat finish as i wanted it a bit more rustic looking. Got some porcelain tiles to go over the pavers too. Have a look at Tile Mountain website. quite reasonable prices. The slate tops are 600 x 300 and 6.99 each from good old B & M lol.
