Hello,
I have inherited a Honda GVC 530 16 hp overhead cam engine that I want to fit to my ride on lawnmower. The original Briggs and Stratton had given up the ghost.
It fits fine but I have a few questions about it please. There are two flexible pipes at the front as per attached photo. They are both attached to the engine at the top but open ended and unattached at the bottom ( just out of view in the photo)

Also in an attached photo are two pairs of wires one pair thinner than the other. The thicker ones go up behind the starter motor but I dont know if they attached to it. These look identical and are grey. The thinner ones are black and red and black and yellow.

As can be seen from the black and white image attached from the online manual both the cables and wires are shown as they are in the photos.

Can anyone give me an idea what the pipes and cables are for. Thanks in advance

Aha interesting!
Pipe wise, the black one looks like the fuel inlet (that’s a shut off solenoid alongside to the right) and the other one looks like a fuel drain to allow you to drain down the twin choke Nikki carb.
Now the electrics, and the fun starts....!
This engine has quite a complex generator underneath the flywheel, although the ignition is magneto.
So, the grey wires will go to a voltage regulator usually bolted to the side of the engine, one of the others will be to stop the engine and the other is......well......I don’t know.
Maybe if you could find a wiring diagram from a machine that uses this engine - perhaps a Countax- we could get somewhere?
I haven’t any manuals I’m afraid, just going from memory!

Absolutely brilliant, that.....all he needs. I notice the solenoid is called a 'start relay' - fair enough.

Good luck with your project!
Fantastic engine these, but they don't like dirty air filters - worth getting an aftermarket one in stock, together with an oil filter.....genuine Honda prices are absurd!
