Hi all,

Planning on turning our concrete drive into a gravel drive with block paver path leading to the house. I was planning on doing the path first then gravelling around it.

Given that the path will just have gravel either side, how should I keep the pavers in place at the sides? I'm guessing that using mortar for the pavers at the sides of the path and haunching isn't an option due to the gravel. But using those plastic edge restraints that are pinned into ground don't seem like a good idea given that cars will be driving over/parked on the pavers. Here's a picture of the type of thing I'm planning on doing.

Thanks,
Jack

Haunching shouldn’t be an issue with the gravel, it’ll cover it?

I thought the haunching would be made visible as cars/people shift the gravel around? If the pavers are a couple of inches thick that doesn't allow much room for haunching.

I'd lay the edges on a mortar bed and add a slight haunch to outer edge. You could always throw some of the gravel on the haunch when wet.
