Hi can anyone help.
Sometimes it sparks and lights pilot. Other times I tap on cover and this sparks and lihts pilot. Any ideas what might cause this. Thanks.

more likely the pcb or the electrode gap too big

That many volts don't really care about a break in the HT lead.

If there was a break, it wouldn't be flame sensing rather than no0t sparking

I trust that you're not CORGI reg'd, giving that sort of inaccurate advice

Now this is Y I rarely make any comments on this forum. Too many tosspots with a high opinion of themselves.
Yes I am corgi registered. Wanna compare numbers?
Y take such a high handed mightier than all attitude? Plus I didn't give advice. merely a sujestion.
I've found a broken electrode lead on a solo before now and even that sort of voltage will not correctly spark if the lead is damaged. Ever tried starting ur car with a damaged ht lead?
Also if it is damaged and the spark is igniting then the rectification might not be correct because of the daamge.
I doubt it's the pcb, they rearely break down intermitantly.
If it was the electrode gap then tapping the case would make no difference. Where as if it was a damaged lead it might.
U can only go on what U are told.

Here here, well said.

"Now this is Y I rarely make any comments on this forum. Too many tosspots with a high opinion of themselves. "

No - nothing to do with a high opinion and everything with being told what I can and cannot do by someone who obviously doesn't have a clue

And I consider telling me what I can and cannot do neing above one's self

Y"es I am corgi registered. Wanna compare numbers? "

I'm not CORGI reg'd why should I need to be ? I'm not an installer
You seem to think it confers some sort of special status - sorry, I don't do smileys !

Actually I think it was HArrowgateGas I was having a go at

"I've found a broken electrode lead on a solo before now and even that sort of voltage will not correctly spark

Oh yes they do - I probably have more Solo 2 pcbs going out this week than you've handled (currently somewhere top side of 50)

"Where as if it was a damaged lead it might. "

far less likely than a molex connector with broken solder joints

"U can only go on what U are told."

then be told ...

I think it was me u were having a go at.
So ur not an installer what are U then?
Not an installer yet U feel upto giving advice. good on ya.
So not a cowboy more an indian.

none of the above, as they say

I repair pcbs, so I don't take well top a CORGI telling me I can't

So no real hands on boiler repair experience then? Just one of those people selling second hand parts for people to fit. How many suprima pcb's have u patched up? Bet thats loads too..........
I my "PRACTICLE" experience the pcb on the solo is very relyable. Unlike the Heat Exchanger, but you wouldn't know that as U don't repair them. Stick to the solder iron and leave the real work to those who can.
Oh and I thik u'll find that Corgi and manufactures do frown upon reconditioned parts. Be they any good or not.
End of as I bored with U now.

I'm lost sometmes it sparks and lights the pilot other times you tap the case and it sparks and lights the pilot.....so far its always sparking and lighting the pilot, what's the problem?.

Sorry Chris but pcbs on solo 2's are the only ones apart from suprimas I keep as van stock.

"So no real hands on boiler repair experience then?"

of course I don't braniac

"Just one of those people selling second hand parts for people to fit. How many suprima pcb's have u patched up? Bet thats loads too.......... "

prolly more than you've had hot dinners, and very successfully, WE don't patch them up, we are a professional outfit that has beenaround for 14 years.

"I my "PRACTICLE" experience the pcb on the solo is very relyable. "

Yes, I can see that you find thinking challenging - I see orders of magnitude more Solo2 pcbs than you do

"Unlike the Heat Exchanger, but you wouldn't know that as U don't repair them. "

Of course I wouldn't braniac - what bit don't you understandthe fact that I don't fix boilers

"Stick to the solder iron and leave the real work to those who can. "

Real work ? how do you work that out then ?

"Oh and I thik u'll find that Corgi and manufactures do frown upon reconditioned parts. "

And ?

Do you think I care what either of them think?

They are both self interest groups with an agenda

Be they any good or not.
End of as I bored with U now.

Moved on to a piece of paper with PTO written on both sides have you ?
