Is there anything wrong installing one sideways? I can't say I have ever seen it, but is there any reason as to 'Why not' ?

Dan.

Yes Andy, almost always, but in a domestic situation?. Is it just for aesthetics or is there a mechanical reason as to why you can't just 'stick it in sideways' ?

Would not the "mechanical reason" also then apply to commercial installations?

The distribution units are not much different, they have the same MCB's etc. in them.
The rest is just metalwork and bus bars. (AFAIK)

I'd get neck ache reading off the breakers and looking at the labels.
Why not just fit one of these, then at least the customer won't think it's p*ssed.

I agree, they are dear. Ideal for tall kitchen cupboards though and the lids will close themselves, unlike the one in the OP.
