I was pleased to hear some good news today, its good to see the UK have secured what appears to be a beneficial deal with Japan that gives us more opportunities in digital and security.

Offset a bit in some areas like TRQs, so overall a similar deal EU have

Of course its not that great

What Japan times says:
"But because the two nations were forced to prioritize the speed of the negotiations, the Japan-U.K. trade deal mostly reproduced the Japan-EU pact, with the exception of some new elements such as digital and data provisions that keep barriers low to ensure a business-friendly environment.

It’s unclear at this point whether Japan and Britain would really enjoy visibly greater economic benefits than from what the Japan-EU deal offers, but the agreement is symbolically important for London to highlight its independence from the EU, some experts said."

So really just a bit of brexiteer chest thumping

And of course through total ignorance...

An example...

"So while zero tariffs on automotive parts from Japan to the UK will help – this might just be trying to hold back the tide. The possibility of tariffs on exports of cars made in the UK to the EU is obviously a concern for Japanese companies too. Maybe sterling will fall far enough or there will be sufficient government subsidies to mitigate this extra cost but ultimately Japanese companies will choose to manufacture where there they can access not just the lowest costs but also a market sufficiently large to ensure full production capacity."

I wonder what that 'sufficiently large market' could possibly be?

Parts made in EU, and fitted to cars exported to Japan - no problem.
Parts made in Japan, fitted to cars exported to EU, and there will be origin of parts problems to deal with.

unless you have an economy where you are super creative super value adding to products that can give you a possible edge over japan you are a looser so a deal with any one means its a deal for both with some losing more than others

George Peretz, a barrister at the Monckton legal chambers in London, told the FT: “The provisions on state aid in the EU-Japan FTA create some quite hard-edged commitments not to provide open-ended government support to companies.

“If the UK-Japan FTA (Free Trade Agreement) replicates those provisions, the UK will need to legislate to ensure that British public bodies do not contravene them. That could well compromise the UK’s negotiating position with the EU, where it has not offered anything like that level of commitment.”

How can the UK, an independent and sovereign nation possibly allow foreign countries to meddle in our affairs, I think its terrible

But some lawyers also stressed that the subsidy rules in the Japan bilateral deal were still weak compared with the detailed and invasive EU state aid regime. James Webber, a partner at the law firm Shearman & Sterling, said: “It’s a concession of sorts by the UK, but if this is where the negotiations end up, it will be much closer to the UK’s view of the world than the EU’s.”

The situation we have at the moment is...

A UK government that boasts it will break international law and tear up an agreement that borisconi himself signed...

We also have an effective 'enabling act' in force...

So we are being ruled by a madman with his own personal goebbels in the background...

And we have a dumbed down proportion of the electorate who worship the madman for fulfilling the outcome of false promises...

What could possibly go wrong?

You seem to have an issue with people who don't do what they say they will. What sort of person blags on & on about what they are going to do then doesn't? Can't imagine myself! Mind you if said person bullshitted about what they were going to do, didn't do it and then slagged the fook out of anyone else who behaved the same???? What sort of tosser would they be? Who knows eh??
