Adhesive used to secure natural roof slates?

Hi,

Had 3 natural roof slates replaced along same course (row) of a pitched roof (pitch is about 45degrees - typical pitch most houses).
Roofer used tube of adhesive and said nails not needed these days.
No other mechanical fixings used.

With all the latest technology in adhesives, is this correct/allowed nowadays.

I've never done it like that, I can't see the point!
There are some powerful mastics on the market now but what is stopping the slates sliding out before they set.

Whenever I use glue on a repair I always put a lead tingle in to hold it in place.

It's not good practice at all.
Natural slates are mechanically fixed by nails or hooks.
Repairs should follow this .. hall hooks are great and virtually invisible, lead tingles where pretty traditional and common look bad
Sticking a slate on a 45 pitch will fail before long depending on cleavage

Don't disagree, it's still the way it's done in Scotland.

Tingles, I just like using both rather than the tingle
