I just got someone I was told has many years of building and roofing work experience to do a small repair to my roof, a very small amount of water gets in on the edge where there are ridge tiles.

He's done a very tidy job with cement work but I've just noticed he's used an external waterproofer I had just purchased to do a different job, waterproofer for external wall etc, and somehow didn't use the waterproofer that should have been mixed in with the cement!
Is was sitting right there for him ton use Arghhhhh :(

I've never done much roof work myself, very basic repairs, but I doubt the cement will have any or good waterproof properties now?

I also have a roof paint that is to go on after the cement is dry, but that was going to be for extra protection, not the fix!
But should I tell him to remove the cement and do it again, or tell him not to come back?
Seems like a bad mistake to make if someone really has many years of experience.

Thanks for any advice.

Waterproofer... Roof paint ....

Shouldn't need either ..
Well if your roof is leaking you have to do something and I don't know where the water is entering.
If I didn't use waterproofer and it still leaks I wouldn't know if that repair area was still the problem or somewhere else. Is seems logical to use it, and it seems here at least when roofs need cement repairs they use it.
It's a Spanish roof, ! The roof paint is just for the cement only.

Do you know if the external waterproofer that shouldn't have been mixed with cement would possibly add any waterproof properties to the cement?

Cement and decent quality sand don’t need any additives and will do the job just fine.

what products are you referring too?
Sika. The bar code is: sika 84288680024200 is the waterproofer that wasn't used.
The exterior waterproofer that may have been used: EQ. HIDRO-RES 86

Cement and decent quality sand don’t need any additives and will do the job just fine.
Thanks, I hope so, I've been waiting a long time to finally get this repair done, long story.

I use blood and sweat on my ridges.
If it leaks I might do just that, but not my blood and sweat!
