A friend of mine was talking to a Black south African .......This black south African told him that if you went to court you wanted a white judge because then you'd be treated fairly.

I'm not making a point this is relayed to you as told to my friend, make of it what you will but I assure you it's completely true. We found it a little suprising that a black man or person of colour if you prefer would make such a statement.

The Black judge could likely be harsher on the Black person to prove that he is not being biased.

Its more a matter of unconscious bias. There aren't many scenarios where the "Judge" calls the shots in English Law. Minor crimes are realm of the magistrates and they convict mostly everyone. County courts and up, its more the facts of the case/legal argument. Crown court it will be jury.

There are plenty of self hating black people around, just as there are plenty of self hating Brits would rather be ruled by the EU rather than by another Brit.

I heard that myself from south africans.
Black judges are apparently very harsh and stick to the books when sentencing.
Instead white judges seem to be more lenient and follow a lot more the guidelines of sentencing (which are not law).
Not my words, never been to south africa, so don't know if it's true.

Come on, what would you think if you wake up and your wife is not in bed?
Then you hear noise in the bathroom.
Surely it's a burglar having a wee and any of us would shoot through the closed door.
Can't really fault this story, can you?

There are certainly self hating Brits who loathe this country so much, they want to impose economic sanctions on the United Kingdom and put a customs border right inside the Union.

You could argue a black judge feels he might be seen as "letting somebody off" so they go the other way.

I think the real reason is as per Motorbikings post TBH
