Prop distance from wall

Hi people.

What is considered the maximum distance from a wall, that we can place props. The floor joist are bearing on the wall we are taking out, 3.8m span

Reason i ask is i have propped and fitted a few lintels 1.5m lintels, nothing to this scale. time we are trying to keep our kitchen units in place for the time being as were not fully removing the wall. so this will mean the props are going to be 600-700mm from the wall we are fitting a steel into. I wont be going any more than 800mm apart from each prop (400mm crs) using scaffold board across the cieling and floor to sandwich against and screw the props to the board for belt and braces.

Usual method of strongboys on the outer skin so no worrys that side.

There is no set dimension. It depends on what needs supporting and the condition of the wall above.

Similar to what I did, but mine was an internal wall with joists running in from both sides:

If you have a timber floor then check it's not rotten, and make sure you can open your kitchen cupboard doors or take them off if you can't.

Thanks buddy, thats how i had it planned in my head. I can get 300mm away most of the way along, its just the one corner where id like to come further out. I guess i just have to go a bit ott with the propping. I picked up some extras today.
