What’s your view on the latest coronavirus briefing?

A lot of people are looking at the fatality data and concluding the virus has weakened. But its more down to who is getting infected and their resilience to it. You do see a lot of people making excuses.

At the gym for example - I wash my hands when I enter, I wipe the kit before and after use and I wipe my gloves too. A lot of people don't seem to want to wipe their kit.

Ive always maintained it is complacency that will be the leading cause for the virus spreading again.

The boffins know a lot more about the virus than they did in March. There are now established effective treatments which will help to avoid the high number of ICU admissions for when it first hit our shores.
When you consider that there are now more deaths due to cancers/strokes/dementia etc etc, I reckon we should focus on protecting the vulnerable and let the rest of the country get back to some sort of normality.
There are elements of society which will continue to flout the 'lockdown laws' and I would not be surprised if the first wave of '£10k' fines are challenged in courts.
The continuous 'Corvid briefings' only go to panic some people. Mums are now worried their kids' runny noses may be Corvid and will understandably seek reassurance by a Corvid test which the current resources can't handle.

Yes I think the hospitals now have the knowledge to treat people more effectively

the death rate will be lower but some people will still see an excessive immune response, which can cause organ failure.

I agree another lockdown is not a solution, but the govt are worried this will take hold and it would be worse. As much as I dislike this government, there is no magical solution, its a choice of worse or worser

thats what Boris did with the Withdrawal Agreement, rushed it through to avoid scrutiny.
That worked out well :ROFLMAO:
If he hadn’t have 'rushed' it through, they’d still be bickering about it and stalling it now. Someone had to take the bull by the horns.

Brexit will turn out like the Railway privatisation - a farce. Interesting to see how the Gov has effectively nationalised it but is still supporting the operators.

Heard a radio discussion, they believe that most transmission is still in homes, which makes sense really. I think they are just trying to get people to be sensible now, knowing that come Christmas almost everybody will bend the rules a little to see family, and this could be a disaster. They need to get that R number down and reduce the number of infected people so we don't end up with tens of thousands of hospital admissions in January.

Another problem is the flu - many of the people who would normally get vaccinated are not making that appointment. Maybe flu will be down thanks to masks and social distancing, but if people relax too much, it might spread even more than usual. Throw in the problem of needing to test every frontline worker and school child showing signs (coughing, temperature etc) and when cold season starts, the whole system will grind to a staggering halt.

So, we all need to act now to stop a deadly Christmas.

The special measures come up for extending by parliament at the end of the month.

You need re-scaring.

We've already worked out the R number means nothing.

Yes, Johnson and Rees-Mogg and their cronies kept moaning and voting against it. Until Johnson claimed it was a great deal, a fantastic deal, the best deal, an "oven-ready" deal and he was going to use it to "get Brexit done."

Is there anybody who thinks they can believe a word he says?

Coz it's not happening enough..

About 1600 a day dying in the UK from various methods.
Covids taking about 10 a day seemingly.
And many so called recorded covid deaths are nothing to do with covid at all.
The scamdemic rolls on.
