HI,
I bought the house with alarm installed Veritas R8. Upstairs keypad haven't respond to anything. So i mess around with programming but keypad starts working. But after week or so i had few false alarms but only from keypads. So i decided to cut the power(remove wire from battery, remove fuse) then everything looks like I've done factory reset. This time I only change the user code and engineering code but both keypads still working. After few days false alarms comes back. So I've done few factory resets but doesn't helps. False alarms coming back all the time. I've check manual and there is information how I should change setting on DIP switch, but I havent found one. I put engineering code,Prog, 09, (shows red dot on number 1 and 4)Prog, Reset and error tone can be heard.
I don't know what should I do to get rid off those false alarms from keypads. Anyone can help?
Thanks

The veritas can have a valid address between 1 and 6 for remote keypads. They don't need changing.

what is the false alarm?

Sounds like normal alarm but sound is only coming from keypads. I've heard them only when unset. I have to put pin to get them silent. House was redecorated just before when I move in so I perhaps the alarm is around one year old.

sounds like means nothing, the keypad display should show the fault at the time, or go into event log to look at the fault.

I haven't got a digital display. I think only shows tamper when keypads goes on and when i put i pin is just gone. Haven't set up time this time. But when i set time up doesn't help at all. I never check log. Need to check manual how to do it. Is that possible that alarm got some issue and i should try to send it back as under warranty issue? Thanks

Tamper fault could be ?
Control panel lid not on correctly
Keypad cover not on correctly
Detector covers not on correctly
Bell box cover not on correctly
Incorrect wiring
Faulty cable
Faulty battery
Post photo of control panel wiring for a start.

so a tamper shows.

if you read the manual, you will see that in the event log you can look at the extended display and the tamper will give you another number, that number relates to where the tamper is coming from.

You don't have a warranty on the alarm as that would be with the purchaser of the alarm via the installer/ seller of the equipment. You bought the house and have since been tinkering with the alarm.

Probably find that somethings not secure

you may get a 5 or a 3, 5 keypads lost (address changed or not connected), 3 a lid tamper

It is in the manual if the panel is as new as you say it is.

May find it easier using engineers code and I know you have that from your earlier comments.

Event logs even basic ones like on this panel have so much useful information, use the power the panel has for detecting its own faults, trying to use the Force isn't reliable unfortunately.

depending on where the panel thinks the fault is, that will help you look in the right place and maybe even save some time and effort.

1 = Bell or auxiliary tamper(global tamper circuit)
2 = Power supply fault (usually accompanied by flashing unset light and 10 beeps in walk test rather than 9 for tamper or 1-8 for active zones)
3 = Lid tamper panel or keypad
4 = Line monitor
5 = RKP Offline
6 = Code pin tamper
7 = Keypad PA (including PA code entered)
8 = EOL tamper

obviously some of those shouldn't be possible on the basic Veritas 8/8C/R8 and only on R8+/ excel although excel will have an LCD display.

Thank you very much for yours replays.
I back everything to the factory on Saturday again because I had 3 alarms in 12 hours. After reset usually i got one week of quiet and than I can expect alarms again. I will check then logs maybe I will find something useful and I will post it.
Thanks
