I need to open the stop tap cover to stop the water so I can change a shower part.

I've got the long tool needed to turn and stop the water. But am stuck with the round cover. Not sure what tool I need there. Hoping someone can help.

See pic below.

I can't find anything on YouTube that shows. There's a few videos, but none that show how to take off the cover.

Thanks.

Stick the flat end of a crow bar into the slot and pry it up. Tap it (the lid) with a hammer if there is reluctance.

Won't pry up using a crowbar.

@trazor I think you've got it right. When the builders opened it once... I'm sure they used the key shown on the link. Grrrr... I need to take a trip to the shops now. At least I know now. Thanks.
Oh... I removed all dirt - seems hard, concrete like. There doesn't seem to be space for the key.
Any thoughts?

The key should drop in and turn 90 degrees.

If not use a hammer/small chisel/screwdriver to remove any blockage.

I flat screwdriver will get it up, so would the flat of the crowbar in the keyhole.

Then you haven't got all the dirt out. The socket for the T, should be around 1/2" deep. The T goes in, then turns 90 deg to hook itself in.

Get a jet wash and wash around the rim, making sure you wear goggles. Then it should prise up.

Why don't you just turn the water off with the stop tap in the house?
