in my district, in March and April, undertakers and crematoria were working flat out and unable to cope with demand. I have personal experience of that. Coffin-makers had to turn to mass production of simple MDF boxes.

However Africa does seem to have fared well until you consider life expectancy. Average age of those dying here is 83, average life expectancy in sub Saharan Africa is around 60.

We have a terrible dilemma here, do we let our elderly loved ones die of covid, or do we taint the lives and push the rest of the population into long term poverty along with all the health implications that will bring along. There seems no easy way to avoid both.

Demographically overall the elderly decided to push the entire population into 'long term poverty' which will exist long after they are gone...
