I have the new entrance to the house ready to start finishing internally.

The external wall is dense concrete blocks and will be heavily trafficked. Is it best to board and then skim this area or plaster straight onto the block?

Interesting I wasn't expecting that. What is the benefit of dot and dab and skim over traditional plaster?

i’m assuming your’e not a plasterer.
I just gave you the easiest cheapest quickest option.

suprised you weren’t expecting it. out of only two options there was 50% chance that it would be at least one persons opinion(y)

True. I don't have an issue with dot and dab and skim. As you say I can do that myself. My only concern is with it being an entrance hallway will that be robust and durable for the beating it will likely take. If traditional plaster is better it may be worth me getting someone in. What do you reckon.

so you think board and skim will hold up alright? Can get all that done myself so happy to role with that.

it’s what they use these days.
You could finish it with thistle durafinish instead of multi or board finish.
it’s much harder wearing.
boards need priming first though.(y)

Is there any issues dot and dabbing board in an area that is double height ie 2 boards high. Is any mechanical fixing required or still just the adhesive

depends what your’e bonding to.
what type of wall is it?
