Hi, I've just moved in to a house that has the original alarm installed, circa 2009. I believe this is a wired System and has a control panel just inside the front door. In my previous property, we had a fob to activate/ deactivate the alarm system. I work away a lot and when away, my wife likes to activate the alarm (all sensors downstairs) when she gets in to bed, Giving her extra peace of mind for her and the kids.

I'm looking at two options, either upgrading what we have, For example is there such a thing that we can do to introduce a fob to the existing system so the alarm can be activated/ deactivated from upstairs without the use of the control panel at the front of the house?

Or, deactivate the current system and install a wireless system, ring for example. If so, is there an easy way to deactivate the current system without the alarm going off due to it being tampered with? Any help appreciated.

Thanks

If you have a hard wired system now, going wireless is potentially a crazy move.

The better option if its hard wired, would be looking at upgrading to a hybrid system.

With a hybrid system you keep the hard wired equipment and add the wireless to it making it much more flexible.

however dpending on what you

Definitely upgrade, upgraded a customers old accenta panel today to a pyronix euro 46 and swapped out all the pir sensors really easy and straight forward

Completely depends on budget. personally fit a lot of pyronix equipment and texecom in larger installs. Just got to add up what you want the alarm to do, prox tags/wireless fobs, Wi-fi enabled, remote monitoring

Happy with PIRs that are installed currently etc, my wife is purely looking to be able to turn this on/ off remotely from bed. We have cctv installed as well as ring doorbell already so not concerned with remote monitoring etc. Thanks

If you want an app Then Texecom Premier Elite panel with a smart com could be an option but you are replacing, panel, keypad for a start.

The question I would ask now is what and how many pir detection devices do you have.
