Adding On/Off Switch to Phone Intercom in Flat

I have an intercom system in my flat, and for whatever reason no matter which flat is needed people buzz mine. I've been here for a week and it's already unbearabe (the worst was a woman trying to get to her boyfriend's flat at 2:30am) so I'd like to add an on/off switch to the intercom so that I only have it on when I'm expecting someone/a delivery.

I'm fairly handy, and have read some threads on here regarding similar issues, but I'm no electircian, and I can't find anything for this specific model the Elvox ART 900 - 902 (it's quite old) - I even contacted the manufacturer, and they're sending me a manual, but that doesn't help much since the intercom doesn't have an on/off switch or privacy setting, or even volume control.

I wanted to see if anyone could offer information on adding an on/off switch to this so that I can control when I'm accessible/turn it off at night and on days when I'm not expecting anything. I've included images of it. I don't own, and my landlord seems reluctant to replace the whole system, but I need to not have this thing on all the time.

Need to put switch in-between wire in terminal 6 buzzer line.
Small toggle switch will do.
Ebay number 254053248139 pre wired switch, or
254035393217 on on spdt micro switch that will fit on side of handset by drilling 7mm hole on casing.

It appears that it is! On the external covering it had a light bulb symbol and the times I pushed it nothing happened (the red LED deosn't work) and people could still buzz, but I just did a test with the cover off (pushed it in, left my iphone recording in the flat, ran down and pushed the buzzer and VIOILA - NO BUZZ). The button on the cover is jammed up pretty well but I CAN SWITCH IT OFF :D and will figure that out.
 
Hello. I am adding my post to this thread as it is regarding the same model (ELVOX ART 900-902). My problem is different. My intercom has stopped ringing. Below is an image of what we are looking at. I am new to fixing any electrical... doing this as I have been quotes over 120 pounds for someone to come see it and replace it. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

This is the buzzer in red .....get some one to hold the button in and put your finger on the buzzer ....does it vibrate ? As they can stick ....post picture of outside panel as it may be the button that is faulty

So, we did test the system by pressing the button from outside our apartment building. When we press the button, the area your marked in red does vibrate. I will try to open the outside unit and take a picture as you have suggested. I just hope I will not damage the intercom for the other apartments!!
 
Hi I have bought a pre wired toggle switch could anybody tell me which wire I should connect it to the privacy button only works for a few minutes

That’s a TyneTec handset , you don’t need a toggle switch …..press the door open button when the handset is down and the led should go red …..it’s now in privacy mode , repeat to take it out of privacy mode …
 
Thanks for your reply the led goes red and it works for 10 mins then goes back to green thanks for your reply
