Ceiling Leak: Ventilation pipe?

Hello,

Unexpectedly, my house bathroom's ceiling started leaking during the heavy rainy spell we got 2 weeks ago. As I am abroad, my neighbour went in to inspect the leak. He believes the leak is due to the extractor fan and the ventilation pipes. The pipe opening is through the roof which is equipped with solar panels; pigeons always around

I am really indebted to my neighbour for spending hours trying to fix the leak. He, among others, put towels to fill up the gaps in the roof where the pipe goes through, see attached images. This fixed the problem for few days. When it rained again, the ceiling started leaking again.

Any long term solution to this problem, please? Any short term solution for the next 2 weeks or so until I come back to the country? Thank you.

You could send a roofer around to fix the immediate problem?

Thank you, tel765 for your response. I'll look for a roofer when I get back to the country. I was looking for a temporary mend by then

There is a pipe next to the extrator fan black pipe shown above. It has an open end and it 's where the water is mainly coming through...what is this pipe for? The boiler tank is in the attic
Would you recommend to seal off its lower end as the solar panels is obstructing access to the top of the roof

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, the solar panels are tightly close to the roof, I can't see anything myself from the outside.

ok well it can not be fixed from inside. What ever happens it will need a guy going onto the roof. there is no other option

My dad was working on a flat roof of a pub owned and modernised a few years by the building contractor he worked for with one of the labourers who casually asked him which pipe sticking through the roof was for the soil and vent pipe, my dad told which one he thought it was and give it no more thought until about 10 minutes later when the pub manager said one of the customers who'd used the gents toilet thought there was a leak in the roof. Turned out my dad's memory wasn't that good from the time when he ran the modernisation and the labourer had ****ed down the pipe from the running ceiling mounted extract fan!!

A roofer came to inspect today; he could not see any damage on the roof. He found however the gutter full of water, although it was professionally cleaned 2 months ago. He believes the water might be coming through down the downpipe below...but the downpipe is not near the gutter. I am attaching below the downpipe in my attic under the solar panel. I still don't understand its purpose, the boiler tank is in the attic, might it be related?. May I just seal off the bottom of the downpipe and move on? Note there is another downpipe at an upper level of the roof, no leak came down this pipe.
