I now have to choose between two boilers

1) Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 825 (ErP)
2) viessmann vitodens 100

The flat is a small two bed 55 square metres flat in central london where space is a premium. Its a smart flat with one bathroom

Both boilers are the same price and will be fitted with a magantec filter. It would need Nest connectivity. There are six radiators no UFH

Which one would you choose

Go for the Viessmann - OpenTherm capable and a better heat exchanger design

Viessmann are overrated, overcomplex, have poor backup (and few will want to look at it), have extortionate parts prices (when the warranty is voided) and the spares are not readily available (certainly not in London).
I'm sure muggles will come down to London though...:)

Vaillant despite their faults are easy to repair, obtain parts, etc

In London I see 1 Viessmann for every 100 boilers from other manufacturers....that's how rare they are.

Thank you - This is very true and I am aware of it which is a big negative in my view

Valiant or worcester dominate but worcester seem to get slated here

what does your installer recommend?

my installer only fits intergas, Veissman or Baxi depending on application and needs,

out of those 2 options go for the Veissman and use the opentherm option of the nest.

the valliant cannot accept opentherm without another board being installed which vaillant say voids uk warranty (but not on their European warranties)

veissman are one of the top 4 installed boiler brands in the UK since their Which magazine awards. Parts aren't hard to find but are slightly scarcer because most veissmans installed since the which awards are all under warranty still and therefore why would people be stocking spares for them?

their a big company and everyone complains about the service provided same as they do with all big companies,

Worcester get slated as they are a pain to work on, but for the volume fitted, are reliable and spares are not a problem. I would avoid Viessmann due to the points already made.

yes i know Which doesnt hold up much when it comes to boiler testing, but my point is that they do influence the boiler market quite heavily and veissmans have been fitted 10 fold since they became Which recommended, which was only about 3 years ago if i remember right.

I thought Worcester came out top ? I never fitted many boilers, I mended them, and out of Worcester,Vaillant & Viessmann, Worcester were more reliable, Vaillant easier to work on-both have readily available spares, first Viessmann I came across had split its hose and flooded the boiler, waited weeks and weeks for the new fan.

There are many other makes of boiler. Some of them sell on merit and not on advertising and Whichity recommendations.

Exactly. An accredited installer will recommend whoever he/she is accredited to, and as people find out on here, ask a "Which blah blah blah whatever" question, they will get a myriad of answers. There are a few plugging these niche brands, but you can't beat tried and tested makes.

Will the clueless and gullible on here understand that manufacturers pay installers to promote their brand and Which magazine ceased to be a valid authority decades ago.
The recommendation of an installer or Which is worthless.
On the other hand some of us just repair boilers and are therefore not so biased towards particular makes/models.
By all means go for these obscure brands..Viessmann, Intergas etc but from my experience you can be waiting a week for parts and few will want to work on them.
What happens when your installer is on holiday and you obscure boiler packs up?
If Intergas UK actually cared about customers they would sort out their product support, get more spares into merchants etc but until they do I wouldn't touch them.
I have one customer that waited over a week whilst a pump was shipped from the Netherlands the UK importer being so hopeless....that's no fun at Christmas.
