I bought an eqiva programmable TRV head, it came with a kit of parts to fit different TRV heads, and it auto reports if the reach is too long, too short, or sized. It was £15 for bluetooth version I got, £10 for non bluetooth, I know you don't want the programmable feature, but it may cure the problem.
