Hiya,

I can't find a solution to this problem after googling for days.

Basically the center post of my french doors, if that's even what it's called, has always had a piece missing at the top so there's a hole leading to outside and letting in a hell of a draught. I can't for the life of me find what I need to buy to replace this or get it fixed.

Can anyone here help us not freeze to death this winter? I've hopefully included some pictures of the doors and then a close up of the hole.

It's missing what's called a mullion end cap/cover. These tend to be specific to the make/shape of profile. If you Google the term (look at image search also) you'll see what these are.

As above, I'd even go as far to say that looks like Halo profile so may give you a starting point

Does anyone know where I can find any mullions like these?

The top one has come off my patio doors.

Thanks.

Do these people above have these end caps?

Crank39 is a service engineer for the major warranty companies. If anybody knows where to get them it will be him.

Ah, I see, thanks for the info.

Its not any of the current major brands of profile, I've been trawling through my catalogues and wall charts and nothing is coming up, theres a couple of similar ones but whats unique about yours is its offset, the only manufacturer I know of that made an offset mullion and obviously an end cap to suit was Kommerling but I have stacks of them here and its not a Kommerling, whats also quite unique is the screw hole to hold it down where 99% are glued, i'll keep looking but its not looking good at the minute

Thanks mate, that one is actually the bottom 1, the top 1 is the missing 1, which I think would be a slightly different desigh/style, I tried this in the top of the profile and it fits, but it stops the other door from opening, as it overhangs slightly across the other door, this bottom 1 wasn't screwed in either,.

Yes because the cap is offset then the top and bottom are a mirror image of each other so a LH and RH or top and bottom

Oki coki mate, the doors are an old set, around about 18 years old.

Thanks.

Hi, I am new to the forum and was wondering if anyone can provide advice on how I would remove one of these mullion end caps (eurocell chamfered 70mm) from my existing French doors ? They seem to be glued on with no mechanical fixings and need to replace one as the outside lip has cracked.
Is the only way to grind and chisel it out (carefully) or is there another way ?

Its one of these

Unfortunately they are just glued on. There should also be pieces of the moulded plastic that locate within the hollow mullion to get it to sit in the right place

Thank you buddy, can I be a pain and ask for any tips on techniques to use or not to use to remove and I purchased dedicated glue for this as well to reinstall - but now thinking these little flaps on the outside or so flimsy they will go brittle and snap at the slightest touch in future… is it worth it ?
