Hi

Trying to determine what is wrong with an oven that is not heating

There are two switches which normally start the oven

Switch one is the mode selector and switch two is the temperature selector

Mode selector turns fine and clicks through modes. When on a mode turning the temp up usually starts the oven. This switch no longer illuminates the light to show it has moved to a mode but turns fine and the fan turns on.

Temp switch turns fine and I can hear a click as it is turned up. Light never comes on but not sure if this is because the mode switch isn't working.

Both switches seem to rotate fine so trying to determine if it could be wiring.

The selector switch was temperamental and needed turning on/off a few times to work before it stopped altogether but still starts the fan.

Not sure whether to get the wiring checked or which switch to swap initially

Any help appreciated, it's a britannia range oven

Have a close look at the Mode selector switch, burnt out contacts are common.

Thanks

I've had a look at the switch and there is some burning and the plastic ends are brittle and just snapped off in places.

Would you suggest cleaning/scratching all the contacts? This could be why the switch was temperamental as they seem to move and engage fine.

If you look at the contacts on the underside of the switch there could be obvious damage normally the front pair. Then replace the switch.
I was going to add to my first post, make sure the clock isn't in auto.

Clock is on manual and smaller side oven works ok.

Hopefully I can clean it up
