Patches around Sockets

Anyone got any idea what the staining is around my plug socket in the wall? Victorian house and wondered if it's damp or just plaster reacting with the walls.

Recently fitted? Looks like undercoat plaster struggling to dry out

I reckon the marks are just due to finger contact over the years. Quite common around light switches, door handles etc.
