Can't pressurise Vaillant ecotec pro28?

My boiler is showing only 0.5 bar when not in use. I followed a video from Vaillant to re pressurise it using the loop, but nothing happened. The little plastic bit had broken off, so I did it with a spanner.

In this video the loop seems to go from different pipes than on mine...

Any ideas?

The silver loop is definitely the right one. Both the black and red valves need to be opened.
In addition there looks to be a screwdriver operated valve next to the red knob which must also be opened.

Once it is up to pressure it's best to close all of the valves.

I'm certain this is what I did! Yeah the screwdriver valve was always open.

Ok I look tonight and see, but I'm quite sure I did that

Thanks

It's a check valve, don't touch it.

Thanks, so the plastic bit came off and when turning it with a spanner it just keeps turning infinitely, is that normal?

I have tried all combinations of both valves on this loop and mostly nothing happens, although at one point it made a noise as if something was going through, but then it stopped, the pressure seemed to go up very slightly.

Could someone have fiddled with the check valve and done anything wrong? I know my cousin was messing around with it a while back

1. Some of them will turn round and round.
2. With the handle on, the handle parallel with the body of the valve = on.
3. Try and visualise which way the flats on the actual spindle of the valve would be if the plastic was intact and was "on".
4. Turn the spindle to that orientation for on.
5. Turn the spindle at 90 degree for off.

Yeah I can see that one orientation is open by looking at the plastic bit. But still, when I open both valves up, nothing happens! Although earlier at one point it did slightly and then stopped

Could the check valve have anything to do with it?

There is a small pressure gauge inside the boiler but you have to take the cover off so I cant recommend you do that. the pressure sensor is not a diy job.

Make sure both valves are closed and remove the flexible hose from the left side. Direct the hose to a bucket and open the right valve, water should flow from the hose. Turn it off. Use the bucket under the left valve and open it ,water should flow out. This will confirm that both valves will pass / allow water through. If they do ,then your water pressure is low or there is an issue with the boiler / gauge.
