Hi there

I have a new extension with a mono pitch roof at 20 degrees with standard 150 or 6 inch rafters that is going to be counter battened and battened with 50 x 25

Also a 25mm Marley 3in1 eaves vent to be fitted on the facia

The toe of the rafter is only 220mm long from the wall but tapers to zero - so will have to be built up as too narrow to secure a facia board

Would really appreciate thoughts on possible facia board height. Went to Eurocell today and they said a 150mm height - does not make sense if there is a batten and counter batten

Appreciate any assistance or guidance offered before they deliver materials

many thanks

You're only choice now is flush to block work plus allowing for any render but height depends on tiles also you may get away with 150mm fascia with vent
Also if that roofs vaulted that glulams past its sell buy date also i ask the chipie that done roof but don't think a chipie was involved in that

Hi there

I have had the roof reconstructed twice by 2 different supposedly qualified carpenters / roofers with all new timber

I thought I may be able to attach another piece of timber against the wall and onto the rafter to try and increase the height and have a very small soffit in this area i.e 80 - 100mm

Disappointing I can’t add on, but thank you for your for your comment / advise

all the best

Sorry to hear about your troubles with framing the lean to (and the return extension too?).
I'm a bit confused with your pics but the bottom line might be to have it done again by someone competent if you can find them.
There are various things could have been done better but to mention just two - it appears that you will end up with unequal fascias. And you might have difficulties with the valley.

Thank you for the responses. I have adjusted the rafters myself and now they all are at the same pitch including the bottom of the rafter albeit taping to zero as per photo.

I now have fix a 150mm facia board to what will be a rafter, 25mm Marley ventilation system / counter batten and 50 x 25 battens

Should the facia board height be raised by 25mm or 50mm above the rafter to incorporated the 25mm Marley vent system and counter battens before placing the final batten with slate

As the Marley website requires a 50mm void above the insulation that is between the rafters. The Marley web video shows their 3 in 1 system going directly onto the rafter with std breather membrane with slate installed after

Tried to look online, but so many different methods - a little confusing.

For fear of being flogged, would really appreciate and further comments / assistance or even a photo/link to a counter batten with the 25mm 3 in 1 eave ventilation

many thanks again
