Assembling basin and toilet

Hi folks,
Quick one.....
When assembling waste for new sink and seals for toilet cistern, is it usual practice to smear some leak sealer eg fernox LS-X around the seals before fitting or does that cause more problems than solutions?
Also threads for cistern inlet - good practice to wrap in ptfe tape?

Float valve ( cistern inlet) doesn't need PTFE . Just the seal.
No sealing compound on any other toilet seal.
Waste fittings on basins vary ,different designs available. Silicone sealant applied to the underside of the waste fitting where sits against the basin ( topside) is required ( or plumbers mait putty if you prefer).
On the underside of the basin there will be a seal and it is usually all that's required to make watertight.

Have to say that if your fitting the metal waste into the basin then the seals supplied aren't usually up to the job.

The fine washer they supply for the top is normally ok but I'd then use a basin mate or a little silicone to seal the gap around the shank of the metal waste and basin waste hole underneath before fitting the rubber seal and large nut, so it seals properly.
