So in June 2018 I had a Trojancast Concert Reinforced P Shape Shower Bath delivered. Within a few months the side panel started to turn yellow. After around a year it was quite noticeable but I couldn't find the receipt nor could I remember where I bought it from.

Today I found the order after a deep search on an old email so complained to Trojan baths.

"Sorry Guv, you are outside our 2 year warranty so it's tough" summarises the reply

The moral of the story is don't lose your invoices and remember that despite the glossy brochures and the claims of great quality this British manufacturer produces a product that makes a 2 year bath look like a 15 year old bath and then walks away.

Some plastics react to certain cleaning solutions - your bathroom cleaner?

I would guess that it may be something to do with a lack of UV light (read: natural sunlight) that has turned the plastic to IBM yellow.

Your contract is with the supplier rather than the manufacturer. You are legally entitled to 6 years of cover regardless.

Personally, I would contact the supplier and mention that I am considering taking them to the small claims court. If they were simply the re-seller they may well contact the manufacturer.

It will cost you from £35 to lodge the case with the courts. It will cost the supplier much more to send a representative to the court. You will however need to be willing to devote half a day to attending the court.

I have only been through the process twice, once as a witness and once when I forgot to pay my self employed NI (on time). In both cases the judge was pretty human.

does anybody burn candles or cigarettes in the bathroom?

I've got the same bath and my panel is changing colour too.
Mine is eight years old, there are no smokers in the house and nothing that should cause discolouration. It must just be loss of pigment imho, like dark red and dark blue coloured cars.
As an aside, I think it's a crappy bath. It must be the only bath in the world that the top edges don't slope inwards. Any water lying on the top of mine, will end up on the floor.

Although this thread is around one month old, I sympathize. I have an Ideal Standard bath with a £70 (ten years ago) vac. formed panel. The bath is around 10 feet from the window, which is more or less, north (ish0 facing. But the panel is definitely yellowing with a nice paler shade where we hang the bath mat.

Basically, cheap materials with zero UV tolerance but nevertheless, a high price.

I would certainly go for the "unsuitable for purpose" as it shouldn't change colour.

Trogon Baths said it was sunlight the caused the bath panel to turn yellow. The bath panel does not get direct sunlight until 5pm and then only in the summer. They couldn’t explain why the panel under the wash basin also changed colour.

No smokers in the house and the bathroom has only been used since COVID.

Mine gets very little if no direct sunlight either. But, I believe it is the light that causes colour fade.
My whole experience with Trojan baths was a comedy of errors.

The best bit to the story is that when walking around showrooms with baths on display I noticed some bath panels were yellowing. I came to the conclusion then that bath panels were like white gloss paint and that they yellowed when not subject to good light. I think the Trojan panels turn yellow regardless of whether they get sun or not.

I ordered my bath from their supplier in Edinburgh thinking it would come direct to my house.
I was wrong. It went past my house on the motorway (quarter of a mile away) to their distributor in Perth, which is 50 miles north of me to be checked for quality.
Then it came back from Perth, past my house again to the supplier in Edinburgh. From there it was sent to my house.
The guy opened the back door of the lorry and I immediately knew that it wasn't my bath.
I had ordered a 1600mm bath, there was a big sticker on the bath which said 1700mm.
I had to wait weeks for the right bath to come.
The ironic thing is that although they had sent the wrong size of bath they had sent the right size of panels.
And that was after it had been CHECKED 3 times.
