"Who did this gland ?" - soldering my banjo ...

Is there an exact clause of the Wiring Regs that gives guidance as to the correct connection method of an earth wire to 4 core SWA terminated gland banjo.
No.
I can solder a good copper pipe connection for sure ...
So can I ... but, as I and others have said, the requirements for a soldered electrical joint is that it should be 'mechanically sound' even before it is soldered - i.e. that the joint would still 'remain sound' even if the solder all melted - which is something that neither your nor I could say about our soldered joints on copper pipes :)

Batteries that can supply 800+ Cold Cranking Amps are internally soldered, how many amps do you need to sink?.

Would be interesting to see of the fitting could take the worst case scenario and survive.

It's not really melting of the solder which is a realistic possibility to think about - but there are much more common ways in which a soldered joint can fail - hence the requirement for an electrical joint to be 'mechanically sound' before it is soldered.
