I have recently replaced my electric shower with gravity fed shower, the electric shower switch is outside my bathroom door and is no longer required, as well as being an eye sore. I plan to do the following:-

  • Remove the cable which runs from the shower to the switch and discard.
  • Remove the Switch and extend the cable into the loft, cap with correctly rated wago connectors and also place in an electrical box , sealed and labelled as live.
don't want to replace the switch with a blanking plate either. I also have one other Electric shower in the house, so Im assuming both showers will be fed directly from one RCD at the main box.
Is this approach adequate or are there better options and am I complying with regulations.

Thanks

No, no, no.

The cable may come in handy in the future.

Terminating it in the loft sounds good to me, you could maybe turn it into a socket.

Good idea, I will use it for a socket, I need to extend the cable from switch up into the loft, would it be OK to use appropriate size terminal block and the joint would sit behind the plasterboard.

Thanks

Is there any way of re-routing the cable into the loft without resorting to a joint being inside the wall?

Ignore me, i'm being stupid thinking, the cable from the RCD to the switch is coming up through the floorboards, this will not be case and it will most likely be coming down from the loft to the switch, that being the case, I should be able to add a socket, without having to connect cables.

Thanks
