Brand new basin, waste and trap...

But the bugger still leaks (tiny bit). At my wits end with it, any ideas.

The leak is from the area marked on the pic in brown. By that I mean it's coming through the collar that screws upward onto the waste.

Cheap trap? Some are known to leak... Try a McAlpine, better quality. Also check it's not coming from above, how have you sealed the waste into the basin?

Waste to basin is siliconed. Not from there- I have spent ages lying down and wiping dry and checking where the leak is. No leak on the threads of the waste. It is a Floplast cheapie from Screwfix.

I often wind ptfe tape around the rubber seals 2-3 times when the waste is problematic. Wont help the seal to the basin of course
