Hi everyone,
I have just tried to install Hive to my CH system and that didn't go well,
I have got Ideal Logic Heat 12, Danfoss TP9000 Si, Danfoss TP5000 Si and small remote room temp sensor in the hall. The heating is twin zone heating + hot water cylinder. When I replaced Danfoss TP9000 Si with Hive's receiver like for like the water pump was continuously on, central heating continuously on although receiver showed CH and HW off. I didn't hear valves being operating. Also, I saw 'C' code on the boiler (central heating demand) display. What I have done is below:

1. Disconnected zone 2 Danfoss TP5000 SI thermostat - left cables disconnected
2. Replaced like for like Danfoss TP9000 Si with Hive Receiver
3. Disconnected small room temp sensor in the hall - left cables disconnected

Attached are files of all devices in the current heating system.
The existing main thermostat has got only HW and CH 'on' cables connected + 3 cables for each 'N' and 'L'. Sockets 5 and 6 are cables to small remote room temp sensor in the hall.

From the Hive perspective, I paired thermostat, hub and radiators valves so all set.

I attached all revelant photos and Range hot water cylinder wiring manual which I believe they followed during installation.

I am not sure where should I start troubleshooting this as never worked with CH systems. If you could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

It shouldn't be too difficult. You are basically replacing two control items with two others that are pretty much identical. [From a wiring point of view]

A Hive Dual Channel should replace the Danfoss TP9000. As it will control one heating zone, and provide the hot water time control. As you can see below, the connection terminals are identical. So, all of the wires you have in Danfoss terminals N, L, 3, & 4, are simply moved to the same terminals of the Dual Channel Hive.

Also, as you have figured, the Danfoss TP9000 terminals 5 and 6 are for the remote sensor so this is simply removed.

A second Single Channel Hive then replaces the Danfoss TP5000 to control the other heating zone. The second Hive receiver N & L connects to the same N & L power supply as the first receiver and the wires in the Danfoss TP5000 terminals marked 'COM' and 'NO'....

....go to terminals terminals in the Single Channel Hive also marked 'Common' (Terminal 1) and 'NO' (Terminal 3)

As I have got Hive radiator valves in 2nd zone just thought 2nd zone could be controlled without second zone Hive receiver and thermostat (although already bought multizone). Is second receiver a must for the current system to operate properly? Also, TP5000 doesn't have power wires connected to (it is AA and internal battery) only two on the attached pictures. Doesn't mean the best would be to take power from existing the TP9000 N and L?

You presently have two separate heating zones that are electrically controlled, one by the TP9000 and the other by the TP5000. These two devices will be each wired to a separate motorised valve controlling their appropriate zone. Therefore, two controllers are required. Otherwise, only the radiators in one zone will heat up.

The TP5000 is battery powered so it doesn't need a mains supply, but the Hive receiver replacing it is mains powered, hence the need to provide it with a new power supply connection. As this will be the second Hive receiver it should be fed via the same 230V fused connection unit as the rest of the heating system and first Hive receiver you have already installed [The "existing TP9000" you mention will have gone and been replaced by the Hive Dual Channel receiver, but the N and L wires will of course originally have been those going to the TP9000]

Note: Although the TP5000 is battery powered, the switching wires connected to it are 230V.
