2 valleys one which needs to be repaired the other I think I can save.

Am replacing one of the valleys on my roof and plan to repair a cracked tile on the other valley with the best of the tiles I remove from the first.

Is there a way to prolong the life of tile valleys, for example, application of blackjack?

You will be wasting your time. These valley troughs are prone to issues. You only know there is a problem when the felt underlay fails.
Strip them out and junk them .
Replace with GRP such as a klober or sim ..easy..

The roof is 50 years old so thought I could get away with them. Hoping they last another 20 to 30 years they look in OK order to me was planning on just sticking some lead under the failing end tile.

Are you saying I'm crazy and should replace?

Lose them mate don't be put off by it interfering with the verge I can guarantee you myself they won't last anywhere near 10 more years.
